They extorted this money from me against my free choice and they wont get an ounce of good luck in their lives from this episode. In my view, this was nothing but theft and extortion and I left the bad energy with this money that the staff in CN Tower deserve. I was over 100 stories up in the CN Tower having this money extorted from me.

So to bring an end to the harrassment, I paid over the full 20% "gratuity", but let me make this 100% clear. I felt sorry for her being dragged into this so decided what the heck, just curse the money with bad luck and hand it over. He caused a scene and got the tour director involved. Eventually I told him if he didnt want my tip, I wouldnt give any. He was very abrupt and not one bit grateful for the tip I had been going to give. He insisted "the company rules" were that I must pay as I was told.

I pointed out that the bill, including taxes, was only $47 so I was free to pay what I chose above that.

The waiter was not happy with this and insisted I had to pay $55.60.

I dont mind paying a tip but had rounded the drinks bill to $55. I ordered 2 drinks and got a separate bill for them which already included a "gratuity" of 20%. Tea/coffee was also included but we had to chase that up as the restaurant did not want to give it to us. Food was fairly basic, a very small amount of soup, chicken with very few vegatables and a small desert. We also asked a waiter to take our orders but he refused, saying he was not the designated waiter for our table. There was a man walking around who looked like he was manager but he was more interested in texting on his phone than implementing any standards. We were left waiting a full 30 minutes before our orders were taken. We were there to enjoy the views with dinner and a few drinks. I went for dinner at a cost of $135 per head with a small tour group. While this seemed very pricey, in retrospect, it was well worth it for the memories. For one adult and a child, it was $108 CDN. One drawback is the cost of the tickets to the Skypod. The next time we come to Toronto, I will almost definitely make reservations at the 360 degree rotating restaurant as it promises to be an unforgettable experience. That said, you can actually see how much the Tower is swaying by looking at a "plumb -bob" that hangs down in the Skypod and shows the building's movements in the wind (not more than 4 or 5 cms when we visited). So, a word of warning, the Skypod is not for the "faint of heart". It was quite windy during our visit so, at the Skypod level, you could actually feel the slight movement of the CN Tower. (Worth noting is that she was perfectly bilingual.) Our guide who took us up to the Skypod (Zaina) was especially welcoming and excited for us. The entire staff and especially the guides seem to understand how exciting this experience can be for first-time visitors. The whole CN Tower experience is one of cool, clean efficiency (even the washroom facilities were modern and spotless). I took my youngest son to the "Skypod" to experience the true magic of the CN Tower and we were not disappointed the views were spectacular and unforgettable.
